Tips for Traveling to the Downtown Farmers’ Market During the Dam to Dam Race
Downtown Farmers’ Market patrons should expect travel delays due to the Dam to Dam race this Saturday, May 30, 2015. Traffic will be heavy, so please be patient as a full farmers market filled with your favorite products and loads of fun is waiting for you. Parking will be available in the Downtown Public Ramps. (Dam to Dam participants are being shuttled in or being directed to park in private lots.)
Suggested routes to The Market:
- From the north: Use I-235 and take the Third, Fifth, or Seventh street exits south to the market. These streets will only be affected when crossing Locust Street for approximately 15 minutes at the start of the 5K, which begins at 9:30 a.m. You may want to avoid traveling to The Market from 9:30 – 10 a.m.
- From the south, use the SW Eighth Street viaduct, East Sixth, or East 14thstreets to enter Downtown. Vehicles traveling north or south will not be able to cross on Martin Luther King Jr Parkway from 8 – 10:30 a.m. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway will be open to vehicles traveling east/west. Pedestrians crossing north/south on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway may have to wait to for runners. Limited parking is also available at the Iowa Cubs parking lot.
- From the east/west – use Grand Avenue & Walnut Street
- Vehicles coming from east of the river should use Walnut Street, Locust Street, or Grand Avenue bridges. The Court Avenue bridge will not be accessible during the half marathon.
